US Sugar Corporation is Hiring an Environmental Manager Near Clewiston, FL

Position Summary: This is a salaried-exempt position, working independently or in a team to plan,
implement, and coordinate environmental programs in accordance with Company, Federal, State, and
local rules and regulations. This work requires the application of engineering principles, technology, and
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) to prevent or correct environmental, or site working conditions in
and around the manufacturing division

Other responsibilities include:

  •  Conduct audits to identify any unsafe work practices and food safety non-conformities as well as
    recommend process and product features that will reduce employee and product exposure to
    chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
     Inspect facilities, machinery, to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure general and
    process compliance with regards to OSHA and EPA rules and regulations.
     Investigate complaints, industrial incidents, injuries, and/or occupational illnesses to determine the
    cause and then implement preventive measures.
     Develops, facilitates, and tracks Environmental training programs for employees in areas such as
    hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene management. Routinely review
    employee programs to determine their adequacy.
     Knowledge of EPA and FDEP air permitting program. Assist in monitoring plant operations to ensure
    capture of relevant data for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual recordkeeping and reports as
    required. Coordinate air emissions compliance stack testing program.
     Provide support in managing and reviewing loss histories summaries to identify trends and make
    recommendations to reduce and eliminate workplace hazards. Communicate adverse trends to
    Senior Management.
     Abide by all Company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and comply with all Company,
    Local, State and Federal regulations relating to Health, Safety, Operations, etc.
     Successfully participate in and complete all train

Must be 18 years of age or older and maintain a valid driver’s license.
 Must hold a bachelors degree in chemical, civil or environmental engineering, or in safety
management, or a related discipline.
 Must have 5 to 7 years of applicable environmental experience working primarily in an industrial
process setting.
 Hold a PE license and/or CSP certification, or be able to obtain such credentials within 1 year.
 Demonstrate physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job
Applicant must be in good
health and physically able to perform all phases of the work
 Applicant must be able to read, write and speak the English language in order to comprehend
instructions on the job and in the classroom, to communicate via radio, to write and interpret policies
and procedures, and to ensure personal and co-worker safety on the job.
 New hires must pass a drug test and other pre-employment background screening, and successfully
complete any required training or orientation course.
 Internal candidates must have good work record and disciplinary history, and positive results from
Company-designated tests designed to measure basic skills, job skills, mechanical aptitude and/or
other interests, skills and characteristics.
