US Supreme Court of the United States is Hiring a Special Assistant Near Washington, DC

Duties

The Special Assistant provides a variety of direct assistance to the Counselor to the Chief Justice in connection with duties assigned to the Counselor. See 28 U.S.C. § 677. Tracks administrative business for the Counselor to address with the Chief Justice for information and decision; completes ensuing assignments; and maintains accurate records. Assists with planning for special events such as investitures, memorials, international judicial exchanges, and visits from official guests. Performs various drafting, editing, and writing assignments. Assists the Counselor and Staff Director with sensitive human resources issues, in liaison with the Justices' chambers, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The position requires excellent analytical, research, and writing skills; and demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work with minimum supervision under tight time constraints. Candidates must be collegial, tactful, and articulate in working with a broad range of individuals. The highest levels of discretion and judgment are required.

Education

A College degree and a minimum of five years of professional experience in the federal judiciary are required.
