Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking an Operations Technician Plant Operator at its Cleveland, OH facility.
Our Cleveland site includes 3 Air Separation Units, a Liquefier, an Argon Purification Plant, and multiple pipeline delivery systems.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day safe operation of the facility’s operating equipment and production processes in compliance with all EH&S standards. While achieving a zero (0) lost time injury record, perform work duties in accordance with company quality systems, safety policies and site-specific procedures. You will also be responsible for monitoring daily production processes to ensure reliability, efficiency and productivity goals are met.Plant Operator responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

  • Monitoring and adjusting plant process conditions by adjusting valves, pumps, machinery, and electrical equipment
  • Maintaining an electronic logbook of daily operational activities
  • Troubleshooting plant process conditions using various in-plant indications of plant performance and data displayed on a modern DCS/HMI computer system
  • Operating analytical equipment used for monitoring production processes and distribution systems for multiple industrial gas products
  • Performing preventative maintenance tasks
  • Maintaining online training program requirements
  • Issuing safety work permits and performing lock-out / tag-out procedures as necessary for maintenance activities
  • Oversee trailer loading operations
  • Inspect all work areas on a routine basis to identify any mechanical problems, safety hazards, or unusual operating conditions
  • Ensure that all plant safety procedures are followed, and attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings
  • Perform troubleshooting on equipment and make minor adjustments, or submit work requests to maintenance as required
  • Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required

 
Qualifications / Requirements:

  • This is a safety sensitive position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Previous work history and/or military experience
  • Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience a plus
  • Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings a plus
  • Experience with personal computers and/or DCS systems
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation when needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Be able to meet call-in requirements as needed
  • Elevated work required.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
