CALL JACOB AT 980-445-9764 OR TEXT “Welding Repair" to 980-445-9764 The Welding Repair Technician is responsible for directly managing the Weld Service Technicians and Repair Coordinator to include daily oversight of task completion as well as the assignment of goals and objectives. They are also responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical and control functionality of welding equipment for Airgas and Airgas’s customers. This position will repair engine drives, inverters, transformers and automation equipment. The position is required to maintain an inventory of parts and supplies and maintain all required documentation including tracking of all work hours for appropriate customer billing. Your responsibilities: Directly hires, manages, trains, on-boards, and develops weld service staff. Responsible for the continuous learning and knowledge maintenance of the Weld Service Technicians Manages all assets, manpower, and vendor relationships associated with the equipment and services needed to support the Region’s weld service business. In conjunction with account managers and specialists, responds to customer operational issues and evaluates customer’s weld processes providing needed training for improvement/optimization. Leads and/or assists with managing the scheduling of weld repair or maintenance contracts at customer sites and Airgas facilities. Ensures calibration test instruments are completed within certification period. Order additional test equipment for technicians as needed. Travels to customer sites to troubleshoot and make necessary repairs , to perform routine/preventative maintenance (PM) and perform National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) traceable calibration on all types of Airgas equipment and products including, but not limited to: Manual, robotic and semi-automatic Pulsed Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-P), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Plasma Arc Welding (PAW) equipment including many custom semi-automatic systems. Orbital tube and pipe welding systems. High purity bulk and cylinder gas systems. Integrated welding and motion control systems. Completes all service orders in a neat and timely fashion and obtains customer’s signature on the order prior to leaving facility. Maintains company provided diagnostic equipment, tools and other equipment in clean, good working condition and within manufacturer’s recommendations. Properly locks and secures the equipment at the end of each day. Maintains inventory of parts in the Airgas facility. Communicates routinely with manager on the job status, daily activities and condition of equipment. Communicates by phone and in person with vendors, customers, sales staff, store managers and others, providing information on repair times, ordering of parts and supplies, etc. Maintains database of and schedule of all calibration and PM’s on Airgas and Airgas’s customer equipment. Other duties as assigned. ________________________ Are you a MATCH? Electronics Repair Experience is a MUST. A minimum of 5 years of technical experience in industrial operations management; including demonstrated experience working in a leadership position. In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate’s degree in Business, Engineering, or science related degree field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of prior related electrical and or electronics repair experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. Prior experience using SAP preferred. Prefer prior industry experience in gas, compressed/welding gases, or related industrial setting and/or prior maintenance and installation experience. Must have general mechanical aptitude. Ability to plan a logical approach to troubleshooting and repairing equipment. Intermediate knowledge of Google suite applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of how to leverage metrics and related tools to improve production efficiency and effectiveness. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Communication skills that ensure a smooth flow of information between self and others through clear speaking and writing, encouragement of open expression of ideas, and effective listening.
