SUMMARY

The Senior Associate, Donor Content plays a critical role in USA for UNHCR’s (U4U) cross-functional cultivation and stewardship efforts, ensuring our donors and supporters feel heard, appreciated and acknowledged for their support through written materials. It additionally supports the creation of evergreen and bespoke editorial materials for an annual calendar of key moments for donor and supporter engagement. The Senior Associate, Donor Content will be responsible for writing projects including one-pagers, concept notes, proposals, reports, cases for support, annual reporting and other editorial projects as assigned. The incumbent will work closely with all fundraising units, and will serve as project manager in the coordination, tracking and implementation of both their own editorial projects as well as identified large cross-departmental initiatives. They will be a program expert and lead the sharing of programmatic resources and knowledge across the Development team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist in fostering collaboration and coordination with UNCHR to explore diverse funding opportunities and develop related content to advance donor relationships. Work with UNHCR and U4U fundraising colleagues to effectively develop, track and produce bespoke concept notes, proposals, one-pagers, grant applications, and reports, ensuring donor requirements and timelines are met. 
  • Support efforts to create and socialize annual fundraising priorities and related materials, maintaining a SharePoint site where materials are housed and kept updated.
  • With guidance from the Sr. Manager, Field Engagement, and collaboration with fundraising teams and Communications, effectively project manage, track, and produce editorial products from conception to delivery.
  • Support the development and execution of written materials for donor engagement calendar. Proactively identify, propose, and write compelling evergreen content tailored for specific audiences across the Development team. This will include the use of clear, persuasive language across one-pagers, talking points, reports and more.
  • Proactively identify and communicate trends, issues, donor feedback and creative solutions to optimize future editorial products to support fundraisers’ efforts to retain and upgrade donors. 
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise on UNHCR programs, emergencies, campaigns, and funding priority areas to identify opportunities across the Development team. Coordinate and lead a calendar of programmatic learning sessions and share-outs across U4U.
  • Develop and communicate action plans and timelines for new projects and assigned work, ensuring projects are prioritized appropriately, and adjustments in timeframes for completion are communicated to all stakeholders. 
  • Proactively propose and execute creative ideas to engage broad and bespoke donor audiences with tailored, inspiring, relevant communications and materials.
  • Assist in coordinating U4U’s bi-annual reporting and contribute to the development of the annual plan for UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships team, collaborating closely with the Manager, Partnerships Marketing & Communications.
  • Participate in the development, automation and maintenance of new processes and platforms for managing and disseminating information from UNHCR related to priority funding areas to ensure efficient and effective information-sharing. 
  • Collaborate in the development of training materials and resources for new and existing staff.
  • Support the fundraising copywriting and editing needs within the Development department. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  •  At least 3-5 years’ experience in fundraising, donor relations, copy writing, grant writing, editorial services, or related area.; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Ability to collaborate with peers and take direction from leadership to accomplish tasks, working both independently and collaboratively. 
  • Demonstrates a high degree of customer service to internal and external clients. 
  • Ability to be a quick and eager learner who demonstrates proactivity and takes initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce NPSP (Nonprofit Success Pack) or similar CRM (Constituent Relationship Management), with solid understanding of reporting and querying tools.
  • Demonstrates passion for U4U’s mission.

WORK LOCATION

Hybrid New York, NY May also involve travel to some locations within the company’s region of operations and select donor locations. 

COMPENSATION

$71,606 - $84,137
