USA Health is Hiring a Sterile Processing Technician Trainee Near Mobile, AL

ResponsibilitiesThe Sterile Processing Technician Trainee will participate in a 12-week (minimum) program fulfilling 400 hours of hands-on experienced training.
Ability to undersstand and follow instructions, active class participation, functions as a team member; completes all course assignments as instructed and maintains an 80 average; attends class regularly as outlined in the student handbook; follows the schools policies and procedures; utilizes approved PPE as appropriate to disinfection and decontaminate surgical/clinic items and instrumentation; retrieves soiled supplies/equipment from soiled holding areas from various departments throughout the hospital per schedule and as needed; sorts, disassembles, selects and performs correct process to decontaminate items; cleans, maintains, and operates a variety of decontamination equipment; follows established procedures selecting appropriate High Level Disinfection method, manual or automatic (AER), for heat sensitive instruments, equipment or flexible endoscopes; documents receipt and all work in a timely manner utilizing tracking software; documents all work performed utilizing instrument tracking software; inspects and assembles all equipment, instruments, scopes, and instrument sets following product recipe, verifies items are functional, free of debris and required per instrument recipe; documents items missing from instrument set, escalating set to Supervisor or Designee for further guidance; identifies and places appropriate internal indicator as required; maintains a clean and organized work area at all times; interprets package labeling to select appropriate sterilization method and approved cycle, options include Steam, Low Temperature, or other as required; inspects packages to ensure all external indicators, filters, and/or labels are securely affixed to items and correct deficiencies before sterilization; loads sterilizer as appropriate to ensure cycle completion; includes biological testing; performs routine sterilizer testing including biological monitoring, leak test, and bowie dick test as appropriate; follows established policies and appropriately documents results of sterilizer testing using tracking software; escalates positive results as appropriate for intervention; removes and inspects items from sterilizer utilizing approved methods to preserve package integrity; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment/supplies weighing up to 50 lbs and autoclave carts weighing up to 200 lbs.; ability to stand for long periods of time; regular and prompt attendance; ability to learn new skill sets quickly and perform consistently with accuracy; ability to communicate effectively with a courteous and professional attitude; ability to work within a team environment; regular and prompt attendance.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent and completion of any prerequisite assignments to be a part of the program, such as screening assessments or testing.
