Job Description Summary: A Principal ASIC Hardware Engineer specifies, designs, verifies, tests, and documents Application-Specific Integrated Circuits. The engineer develops the architecture, designs circuits and/or HDL, performs simulations, performs physical layout, verifies and tests designs. Assignments may include performance of all aspects of the development process, from high-level design and specification to synthesis, layout, place and route, timing, signal and power integrity, and test. • Design and simulate circuits at transistor-level to implement architecture and requirements
• Perform physical layout, including floor-planning, and simulate circuits using extracted parasitics.
• Design and validate RTL. • Perform logic synthesis and place-and-route for digital designs
• Perform system-level design, including caches and memory subsystems.
• Perform timing, signal integrity, and power integrity analyses.
• Optimize hardware designs for performance, power, and cost.
• Evaluate the hardware feasibility of complex algorithms and requirements.
• Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction - contribute to requirements development, propose ways forward, and adapt appropriately to changes in requirements.
• Independently performs complex ASIC architectures and designs.
• Independently drive solutions to complex problems - develop requirements, propose ways forward when customer requirements are unclear or incomplete, and adapt appropriately to changes in requirements.
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) able to perform advanced architectures and designs for complex ASICs.
• Involved in business development and proposal activities.
• Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
• Manage multi-disciplinary tasks with multiple engineers and effectively communicate status to project leadership and customers.
• Develop, document, and teach best practices to less experienced engineers. • Perform other duties as assigned. Skills/Abilities
