USAJOBS is Hiring an Assistant Director of Visitor Services Near Washington, DC

DutiesWhat will I do in this position if hired?In this Assistant Director of Visitor Services position, you will assist in the managing Visitor Services Operations, budget and financial management, as well as inspiring staff to conduct daily operations with a visitor centric mindset. You will also have an opportunity to promote world class customer service and engage the public with a thorough understanding of American History and Art.
Typical Duties Include
  • Assisting the Director and Deputy Director of the Visitor Services Division in providing direction and oversight to the Visitor Operations Managers and the frontline team.
  • Collaboratively working with supervisors to establish or revise standard operating procedures for work operations
  • Leading and collaborating with subordinate supervisors on the establishment of equitable performance standards
  • Performing administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinate supervisors.
  • Resolving complaints and grievances as delegated by higher level Supervisors.
  • Developing and delivering oral and written presentations.
  • Developing staffing timelines and coordinates and collaborates with CVC divisions to effectively utilize CVC resources to accomplish staffing goals.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with CVC Divisions to effectively utilize CVC resources to accomplish staffing goals.
  • Interviewing candidates and making Candidate selections for position vacancies.
  • Reviewing and taking action on recommendations for promotions or reassignments.
  • Serving as a reviewer of proposals in response to grievances not resolved by subordinate Supervisors.
  • Keeping the Director and Deputy Director of the Visitor Services Division fully informed on CVC operations, issues, and developments related to visits by distinguished visitors, Members, congressional staff and Members' guests.
  • Maintaining ongoing relationships with local and national Capitol tour operators and information providers.
  • Assessing CVC visitor operations program effectiveness and provides recommendations and innovative solutions to the Director and Deputy Director of the Visitor Services Division.
RequirementsConditions of Employment
  • A citizen of the United States;

  • You must meet the definition of specialized experience.
QualificationsYou must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Candidates for the GS-13 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

  • Senior level experience leading a large, complex, diverse team and building a positive team culture
  • Senior level experience leading a front facing organization in a high-profile, high-volume environment
  • Senior level experience developing successful collaborations and working relationships at all levels of an organization by building internal and external partnerships
  • Senior level experience championing the Visitor experience by keeping large audience crowds engaged and enthused.
