USAJOBS is Hiring a Records and Information Management Specialist Near Washington, DC

Duties
  • Serves as Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Administration (OA), Business Resources Division (BRD), Records and Information Management Specialist.
  • Plans and coordinates with OJP information technology (IT) staff as it manages projects involving complicating elements, such as electronic recordkeeping applicable to all OJP electronic records, including electronic mail; innovative technologies; or technology related change management issues.
  • Performs records management-related program development and administration, policy advice and guidance, and project planning to support the Department-level records and information management program.
  • Collaborates with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) component records managers and other Department offices on development, records scheduling, and operational management of DOJ component records programs.
  • Provides technical leadership on group projects related to records management.
  • Evaluates component information systems and consults with IT staff and office representatives to plan and coordinate OJP-wide electronic record keeping.
  • Conducts inventories and develops electronic file plans to support electronic record keeping.

QualificationsSpecialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples Of Specialized Experience Include
  • Performs records management-related program development and/or administration, to support a records and information management program.
  • Participates in the development and/or implementation of a modern records management program for the paper and electronic records.
  • Maintains and monitors a records management program and prepares guidance on record keeping, per the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) policy and directives.
  • Conducts records management training for staff and maintains training records.
Substitution Of Education For Experience
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related,
Combination Of Education And Experience
  • Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements.
Technical QualificationsApplicants who meet the basic entry and minimum qualification requirements, as described above, will be further evaluated on the following technical qualifications:
  • Records Management Program Administration, Advice and Guidance
  • Program Evaluation and Internal Controls Monitoring
  • Directives Program Planning and Management
  • Problem Solving

Preferred CandidatesHave completed the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Records Management Certification program, the NARA on-line records management training, or possess certification from accredited and/or NARA compliant records and information management credentialing programs. The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) preserves U.S. government records, manages the Presidential Libraries system, and publishes laws, regulations, Presidential, and other public documents. Records management experience of candidates should directly relate to the types of records managed and governed by NARA guidelines.

  • This position has a duty station of Washington, D.C. The selectee will be required to physically report to the OJP office building at least four (4) days per bi-weekly pay period and may incorporate leave and official travel plans into this reporting requirement. The office director or supervisor may request the selectee's presence in the office more frequently, as determined by the needs of the office. The selectee will be responsible for covering all commuting-related travel expenses. OJP employees are eligible for one transportation benefit - parking or the Department of Justice (DOJ) transit subsidy.
