DutiesAs a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST, You Will
  • Exercise broad, overall responsibility for the formulation, development, administration and execution of NARA's IT policies, programs, and projects.
  • Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate Information Services activities requiring an expertise and broad scope of knowledge of command and control, communications, and NARA requirements for internal and external customers.
  • Assign work to lower-level supervisors and/or employees, establishing overall project goals and priorities and evaluate results through formal reviews, briefings, reports, and personal observation.
  • As a principal IT staff adviser and consultant for NARA, establish and maintain personal contacts with senior-level management officials, equivalent stakeholders, private contractors and the public.
  • Provide contract performance oversight responsibility when contract work is performed within or in support of the Division/Branch and/or functions.
RequirementsConditions of EmploymentThe experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
  • Designated and/or Random Drug Testing may be required.

QualificationsYou must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For The GS-15, You Must Have One Year Of Specialized Experience At a Level Of Difficulty And Responsibility Equivalent To The GS-14 Grade Level In The Federal Service. Specialized Experience For This Position May Include The Following
  • Federal Government technology policy promulgation processes, project and contracts management and independent government cost estimate formulation and execution management;
AND
  • Applying IT Principles, concepts, methods, standards and practices to provide guidance, technical advice and recommendations to management on information technology policies and procedures.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
  • Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks.
