USAJOBS is Hiring a Technology Transfer and Patent Specialist Near Montgomery, MD

DutiesAs a Technology Transfer and Patent Specialist, below are some of the duties that you will perform:
  • Uses expert scientific knowledge to prepare unmodified standard agreements and draft non-standard agreements (e.g., Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), Conditional Gifts, and custom agreements.
  • Advises scientists on the suitability of each agreement for the desired research project, ensuring that all appropriate provisions are negotiated and included in the agreement.
  • Participates in the development of new policies regarding the transfer of technologies of high priority for the betterment of public health.
  • Negotiates licenses for inventions and unpatented research materials.
  • Develops royalty proposals based on analyses of the stage of development of technology, size of market, and availability of competing technologies.
  • Identifies potential collaborators for Institute scientists.
  • Develops and implements strategies to increase licensing interest in the Institute's inventions.

QualificationsIn order to qualify for a Technology Transfer and Patent Specialist GS-0601 position, you must have completed a full 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or graduate higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
ANDIn addition, to qualify for a Technology Transfer and Patent Specialist GS-0601 position at the GS-14 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: managing and monitoring the processes for handling Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) and potential inventions involving all interested parties, including the inventing scientists, or client laboratories; planning, negotiating, originating, and executing a variety of technology transfer agreements such as Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), Materials-CRADAs (M-CRADAs) or equivalent kinds of agreements; providing technical guidance to others in providing technology transfer services; advising on matters involving domestic and foreign patent rights, policies and procedures.
