QualificationsCandidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the NF-1084-12. For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the NF-11 level in the Federal service, designing digital experiences for a museum or cultural institution.

Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.

ExperienceGeneral Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that demonstrated the skills and creativity needed to use the tools or equipment associated with the work. Because talent and creative ability are vital to successful work performance, samples of work or other suitable evidence of technical competence may be required. Unpaid experience that is pertinent should be credited based upon its relevance to the work of the particular position to be filled. To be qualifying, the work must have involved visual communication of information or the application of the principles of artistic design.
Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means.

- Work in cross-functional teams on portfolio of various digital products to enhance customers' experiences with our brand and facilitate an enjoyable experience using various forms of digital and web media.
- Research, design, and deliver digital experiences for users that tie into the wider customer experience blueprint for the museum.
- Work closely with product managers to find opportunities for new products/features and validate assumptions through user testing and research.
- Design and specify user interfaces and information architecture across different digital products.
- Develop proof-of-concepts, wireframes, and prototypes. Analyze and synthesize the results of usability testing and digital analytics to provide recommendations for modifications. Create such artifacts as Usability Testing Plan, Testing Scripts, and Usability Testing Report.
- Provide leadership in delivering customer journey maps and user flows, sitemaps and wireframes, usability testing and stakeholder workshops - all of which require a combination of technical and design skills, as well as communication skills.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, user requirements analysis, conceptual modeling, and usability testing. Effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale and goals both verbally and visually.
- Work closely with visual/interaction designer(s) and engineering teams to ensure that customer goals are met and ensures delivery of design specifications.
