Nicknamed The Greatest Stadium in the World, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has hosted college football, professional football, two Olympics, a World Series game and numerous concerts since 1923. As the home for Trojan Football, the Coliseum has become a symbol for University excellence and spirit. USC has committed $270 million to Coliseum renovations to guarantee its continuing presence as a premiere stadium well into the future, serving all Angelenos and Trojans alike.

We are seeking an Event Operations Supervisor (Part-Time), LA Memorial Coliseum to join our rapidly growing team.

The Opportunity:

If you are excited about event support and facilities management, then look no further! As the Coliseum’s Event Operations Supervisor, you will set-up, stage, and break-down our event equipment, furniture, and promotional materials, as you lead our general services staff. We will rely on you to ensure our staff maintains a positive, enthusiastic and above all, a safe working environment. We are a hardworking team, and we want you to join us!

The Accountabilities:

  • Lead general services staff or others who move, pickup, and/or deliver equipment, supplies, and other materials. Arrange access for furniture moves. Lead relocation of office furniture, equipment, lab materials, etc. Install modular furniture and objects such as framed art on walls. Deliver and install rental equipment and furniture. Repair custom equipment, as needed. Make recommendations regarding rental agreement needs.

  • Assist supervisor with scheduling, supervision, and management of department.

  • Hang banners and signs from buildings and trees, as assigned. Fix plexiglass maps, as needed.

  • Assist with remodeling projects, including demolition. Dispose of furniture and materials according to university and state standards and guidelines.

  • Lead others setting-up and breaking-down event equipment and furniture.

  • Operate forklifts and other heavy moving equipment. Operate specialized tools (e.g., jackhammers, pallet-jacks, etc.) as required.

  • Assist other trades such as carpenters, painters, etc. with a variety of duties related to trade, under supervision.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

The Qualifiers:

  • Education: High School Diploma. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

  • Experience: 3 years of experience in moving furniture and general
    maintenance and guiding the work of others.

  • Expertise:

    • Experience driving 1.5 ton trucks.

    • Demonstrated ability to learn city and state building codes, OSHA rules and regulations, University standards, and other requirements for workplace safety.

    • Demonstrated ability to speak English.

    • Demonstrated ability to work with others.

    • Demonstrated ability to lead others.

    • Valid CA driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information please visit the policy website.

The hourly rate for this position is $22.77. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
