Time In Grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
GS-13 level: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates: Experience planning, directing, coordinating, executing, and evaluating program activities related to the business, commercial and/or cooperative development loan, grant, and/or loan guarantee programs (i.e., processing loans and grants and servicing existing borrowers). Experience providing policy updates training in business program law, regulation, credit counseling, customer service, loan processing and/or grant processing through training sessions and development of procedures. Experience establishing priorities, evaluating performance, and/or advising employees on administrative and work-related matters. There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-13 level
NOTE: To be considered for this position, you must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the GS-1165 series set forth in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards by the closing date of the announcement. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
- Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable. New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.
