Description
Under the direction of and reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Janitor performs assigned/scheduled janitorial and cleaning work in office and manufacturing areas.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Collect and remove refuse from wastebaskets and trash barrels.
Sweep and clean floors.
Clean and sanitize lavatories and wash basins. Fill soap dispensers and order cleaning supplies.
Routinely shake out doormats and sweep door entrances going into all buildings.
Perform other miscellaneous duties such as washing windows, cutting grass, and shoveling snow.
Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
Scan in and out of labor collection software, as required, to track work hours.
Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires education generally equivalent to 2 years of high school and 3 months related experience in janitorial procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple oral instructions and written materials relating to janitorial procedures.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform simple calculations relating to janitorial duties.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situation with only occasionally or no variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The employee must work with little supervision. The employee must possess the ability to work with cleaning implements such as brooms, shovels, mops, etc.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING REQUIRED: The employee must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and a hard hat, as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate while working in the office and loud while working in manufacturing areas.
