USNA Alumni Association & Foundation is Hiring an Analyst, Research and Portfolio Management Near Annapolis, MD

The United States Naval Academy Alumni Association & Foundation is searching for an Analyst, Research and Portfolio Management.

This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located next to the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association & Foundation moved into the new Fluegel Alumni Center, which was built on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.

The Analyst, Research and Portfolio Management position will lay the data-driven groundwork to help execute a comprehensive campaign that will support the Naval Academy's Strategic Plan 2030. The campaign is currently in the leadership/quiet phase. This position will work closely with the USNA Foundation staff to support development program effectiveness and fundraising goals. This position will also closely partner with colleagues from across the Enterprise to support all development and engagement efforts, including colleagues in Regional Development, Donor Relations, Principal Gifts, Alumni Engagement and Events.

The position is part of an energized and engaged team, all of whom are driven to advance our mission as well as their own professional and personal growth. The team works closely together to think strategically, address opportunities and challenges, as well as search for ways to improve both team and individual performance. This position reports to the Director, Research and Portfolio Management and work directly alongside development officers from the Regional Development and Planned Giving Teams.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Portfolio Management

  • Support the oversight and management of the Foundation's prospective donor tracking system, including assignments, prospective donor pools, and other identified constituents, to include the assignment of various model scores and ratings, and capturing all other pertinent financial data.
  • Create and maintain a robust prospective donor pool for future assignment in the principal gift, major gift, planned giving and leadership annual giving pools; participate in routine portfolio review sessions.
  • Recalibrate portfolios as needed to maximize performance and elevate the highest priority prospective donors for management.
  • Regularly review development officer outreach efforts and statistics on moves management.
  • Help maintain top campaign prospective donor lists that are used in regular review sessions with Foundation leadership.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert related to the portfolio management components of CRM and EverTrue.

Research

  • Consistently identify and rate prospective donors through comprehensive research and analysis.
  • Compose narrative research reports on selected prospects for senior staff, board members, volunteers, and Naval Academy leadership in a timely fashion.
  • Compose brief research reports for all USNAF events and others, as requested.
  • Ensure that research provided to leadership and gift officers is accurate, efficient, and actionable.
  • Work closely with Campaign Operations team in developing research briefings for regional campaign events, campaign briefings and one on one meetings for the CEO, EVP, VP and Regional Directors of Development.

Other

  • Additional responsibilities in support of the Research and Portfolio Management team, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional written/verbal communication and project management skills
  • Dedication to growth and professional development with an openness to coaching and mentoring
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience.
  • Ensure adherence to professional standards and ethics of prospect research
  • 1 to 3 years research and/or data mining experience, preferably in nonprofit, marketing, and higher education or an independent school
  • Proficiency in conceptualizing and developing proactive prospecting methodologies using such tools as constituent list segmentation, data mining, and electronic and peer screenings
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and synthesize data using data mining tools
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel and Word or similar software
