You AreWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Hardware Lab & Network Technician to join our team in an onsite client lab. As a critical member of our IT infrastructure team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our hardware and network systems. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from configuring and administering servers to troubleshooting and resolving network issues.
The Opportunity
  • Establish and manage connectivity of onsite systems to network environments.
  • Utilize advanced network tools for tasks such as traffic analysis, troubleshooting, and diagnostics during overnight maintenance windows.
  • Install, configure, and administer Microsoft and Linux-based systems.
  • Hold relevant OS certifications to demonstrate expertise.
  • Exhibit a strong working knowledge of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, permissions, VNC, security practices, and OS patching).
  • Create and restore OS images, configure virtual test environments without disruption.
  • Assemble, relocate, and prepare racks, servers, tools, and diagnostic devices for the next day's availability.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs regularly. Navigate short staircases and work on low server equipment overnight.
  • Address lab issues through the designated ticketing queue and follow up appropriately.
  • Provide mentorship to train new team members to the required competency levels across specialization tracks.
  • Complete mandatory trainings on safety, security, and health topics.
  • Adhere to all policies and regulations.
  • Bring up and troubleshoot servers and motherboards overnight.
  • Debug any encountered issues.
  • Install and configure Linux, Windows, VMware operating systems, and virtual environments. Update relevant drivers and firmware.
  • Program and update BIOS, CPLDs, firmware, voltage regulators, and baseboard management controllers to ensure proper configuration.
This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.
What You Need
  • Be proficient in DHCP, static IP allocation, and domain servers for authentication.
  • Basic understanding of hardware including desktop, handheld computers, Mother Boards, and peripherals
  • Ability to perform tasks in the customer or target lab environments.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interact with different teams and customers with good written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: WashingtonCompensation Range: $36,000-$54,000
