UT Health San Antonio is Hiring a Community Outreach Coordinator - Senior (Be Well Institution) Near San Antonio, TX

Job DescriptionUsing independent judgment or under limited supervision, responsible for coordinating community-based outreach, education, research, and engagement services, with an emphasis on substance use disorder and behavioral health. Responsible for identifying outreach partners and developing relationships. May lead or mentor lower level employees. May be responsible for reconciling expenditures.
Responsibilities
  • Initiates the creation and development of outreach events within community and professional settings, with a focus on sharing program resources related to services for substance use and behavioral health.
  • Collaborates with a team of outreach specialists to promote departmental services, such as educational opportunities, patient care services, and research.
  • Occasionally travels and participates in evening and/weekend outreach events.
  • Supports the Outreach Program Manager and Department Director in planning, executing, and tracking outreach activities.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with a variety of community organizations (e.g., community health centers, churches, state medical agencies, managed care organizations) concerning program initiatives and clinical trials.
  • Organizes meetings and works closely with partnering departments to organize, execute, track, and report on key activities related to outreach.
  • Collaboratively strategizes and prepares advertising and general information materials for distribution across a range of mediums for stakeholder engagement (e.g. flyers, social media campaigns, website content).
  • Assists program recruitment efforts by regularly posting advertisements and following-up with potential leads and partners.
  • Develops online learning sessions and resources to promote the education and growth of the program to the community and partners.
  • As needed, oversees and leads lower level employees, including interns, research assistants, and students.
  • As needed, oversees and maintains program databases to track research outreach initiatives.
  • Assists with stakeholder and research recruit retention efforts throughout research continuum (e.g., making reminder phone calls, sending letters or emails, conducting field work to locate missing participants) and document all retention attempts.
  • Assists research team with pre-screening procedures such as chart-review, following-up with referrals or other pre-screening procedures as required.
  • Attends and participate in team meetings and study conference calls, as required.
  • Travels to offsite locations (e.g., conference venues) as needed.
  • Assists outreach team in preparing and packing materials for outreach activities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in related field is required.
ExperienceFive (5) years of related experience is required. Experience in substance use and mental health services is preferred.
Required SkillsFive (5) years of related experience is required.

Medical - UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. Retirement - Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.
Time Off - A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:
  • Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
  • Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
  • Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year plus three floating holidays, which can be used anytime during the fiscal year.
FSAs - Employees can enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to set aside money from earnings before taxes for qualifying dependent day care expenses or out-of-pocket health care expenses.
Discounts - Employees enjoy a range of discounts on services, tickets, and gym membership.
