Utica Comets is Hiring a Public Address Announcer Near Utica, NY

The Utica Comets, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, are seeking qualified candidates for the role of Public Address Announcer. Reporting to the Director of Game Presentation, The Public Address Announcer is a seasonal, part-time role and will serve as a primary announcer for Utica Comets home games at the Adirondack Bank Center. This individual will also deliver announcements for the Utica Comets and additional special events, as requested.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for announcing all in-arena reads, including sponsor promotions, introductions & pregame ceremonies, intermission activities, goals, penalties, and other hockey game details, as needed.
Coordinates with AHL officials to determine penalties and game related information.
Communicates game and event information to the Game Night Director and In-Arena Producer.
Serve as primary PA announcer and/or emcee for additional Utica Comets and additional Adirondack Bank Center events, as requested.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The Public Address Announcer must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skill and abilities:

Professional speaking background preferred (radio announcing, voice over talent, other hosting experience).
Must have a strong knowledge of ice hockey
Great communication and listening skills
Ability to adapt to quickly changing game situations
Flexible schedule to allow commitment to all Utica Comets home games necessary during the 2024-25 season, including select weekends, evenings, and holidays to meet game/event needs
Additional duties, expectations, demands, etc. may be added or changed on an as-needed basis to meet organizational needs.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

High School Diploma or its equivalency (BA/BS Degree preferred)
A minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience
Experience in the Sports/Game Operations/Entertainment industry preferred

COMPENSATION

This position will pay $75 per game/event
