UVA Health is excited to announce the opportunity for a strategic, creative, collaborative, and mission-oriented professional to serve as Administrator, Hospitality and Support Services at UVA Health Medical Center. The UVA Medical Center serves as the flagship hospital located in Charlottesville, Virginia, with 696 beds, housing a Level 1 trauma center, the UVA Children's Hospital, the UVA Cancer Center, and the Charles Strickler Transplant Center.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of the University of Virginia Medical Center, the Administrator of Hospitality and Support Services is a key member of the senior leadership team. They manage areas impacting patient and team member experience, including: Patient Experience Office; Housekeeping Services; Food and Nutrition Services; Volunteer Services; Hospitality House; Welcome Team; Language Services; Patient and Equipment Transportation; Parking and Transportation; Valet Services and Garage Operations; and Workplace Violence Prevention. The Administrator is a collaborative partner throughout the Medical Center and community, and is a primary liaison and point of contact for the UVA Department of Safety and Security, including the University Police Department, and UVA Security.
This important leadership role is responsible for initiatives that fulfill the mission, vision, and values of the University of Virginia Medical Center to promote a culture of patient-centric care that embodies and emphasizes outstanding service and compassion. This role represents the voice of the Patient and collaborates to ensure that all patient experiences at the University of Virginia Medical Center embody the highest degree of service and compassion.
The Administrator manages a team of approximately 200 Medical Center employees, 700 contract employees, and a budget of approximately $73 million. They are responsible for modernizing and implementing best practices across all Hospitality and Support Services within the organization through data-driven performance improvement initiatives.
This leader collaborates with teams across the medical center and health system to foster a culture of appreciation that ensures patient experience, clinical quality, and performance improvement initiatives align with overall UVA Health goals and commitment to service excellence. The Administrator must be committed to the mission of transforming health and inspiring hope for all Virginians and beyond, and be a leader in the equitable hiring and management of staff and cultural competency and consideration in patient experience.
The salary range for this position is $162,000 to $250,000. It is the policy of UVA Health to hire so that there is room for continued professional growth and compensation; candidates should not anticipate starting compensation at the very top of the approved range.
Qualifications
The Administrator must be people-centric, strategic, analytic, creative, collaborative, and skilled at engaging frontline employees and fostering trust between care teams. They must be able to manage a mix of employed and contracted employee relationships and demonstrate ability to accomplish goals and objectives through informal influence.
The successful candidate must be a person of integrity whose beliefs and actions align with and advance UVA Health’s misson, values, and stated policy objectives including its strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will additionally have:
● A minimum of 7 years relevant experience in healthcare with demonstrated achievements in leading, implementing, improving, and maintaining patient-facing programs across the continuum of care with exceptional results.
● Knowledge of survey process methods and experience in managing and reporting of performance metrics.
● Proven track record of full cycle project management from conceptualization and design through implementation measurement and continuous improvement.
● A Bachelor's degree is required, Master's degree preferred. If the hired candidate does not have a Master's degree one must be obtained within 4 years of hire or transfer.
The successful candidate will display discretion and good judgment and will demonstrate the ability to get things done while working effectively across a complex institution in a highly matrixed environment.
