JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Independent Practitioner, the LPN:

  • Is responsible for providing nursing care as directed by physicians and registered nurses.
  • Ensures services are performed in a safe environment in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as part of the imaging center team and seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Identifies patients and assists technologists with patient preparation and positioning.
  • Collaborates with Imaging Center staff to facilitate timely patient care.
  • Assumes leadership role in absence of Nursing Supervisor, as assigned.
  • Prepares patient for procedure by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
  • Provides optimal patient care by explaining procedure to patient and answering questions.
  • Assists with assessment, planning, and implementation of nursing care.
  • Follows established Safety Standards to ensure safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Performs venipuncture and maintains intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Performs quality assurance checks on equipment.
  • Takes the initiative to help other modalities/areas of the Imaging Center as assigned or when own work load/area allows.
  • Identifies, prepares, and/or administers medications as prescribed by and under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Establishes ownership of clinical area by taking pride in appearance and readiness of exam rooms, treatment area, equipment, and supplies.
  • Monitors and records the physiological condition of patients.
  • Assists with discharge planning and teaching.
  • Functions as liaison with primary care departments.
  • As required, instructs students and residents, and performs preceptor duties as necessary.
  • Serves, manages, and supports internal and external customers.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates consistent use of AIDET (Acknowledge patient, Introduce yourself, provide Duration/timeline for test, Explain the process, & Thank them for choosing our center) and HEAL ( Hear them out, Empathize, Apologize, & Leap into action to solve) when interacting with patients/customers.
  • Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
  • Attends/participates in staff meetings, in-services, & center-wide meetings as scheduled.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1 year as a LPN in a clinical setting

EDUCATION:

  • Must be a graduate of an approved LPN program.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must meet the state licensure requirement for the state in which they practice. BLS certification required within 60 days of hire.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently and multitask under the direction of a RN or licensed independent practitioner.
  • Ability to manage medical emergencies and/or contrast reactions under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely.

LANGUAGE SKILLS/REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to successfully write reports, business correspondence, and policy.
  • Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and professionally interact with managers, employees, clients, vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and correct errors.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of forms and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER LITERACY

  • Knowledge of computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, digital archiving, and retrieving of data.

ENVIRONMENTAL
