Are you a high-energy individual with a passion for leadership and customer service? UW Provision, a family-owned regional distributor of meat products in Middleton and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, is looking for an Assistant Store Manager to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our retail stores and providing an excellent customer experience.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Customer Interaction: Create a welcoming environment for customers, engage with them, and provide prompt, courteous service.
- Training & Development: Train and mentor new hires, fostering their growth and ensuring they understand their roles.
- Store Maintenance: Ensure the store is clean, well-stocked, and meets the company’s standards.
- Team Coordination: Work closely with the store manager to coordinate daily operations and address any issues that arise.
- Cash Handling: Follow cash handling procedures, ensuring accurate counts at the end of each shift.
- Problem Solving: Tackle challenges efficiently and shift priorities as needed.
- Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of employees, ensuring a positive atmosphere of friendliness and teamwork.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the store manager.
Job Qualifications:
- Leadership Experience: Must have 1-3 years of leadership experience, preferably in a retail environment.
- People Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to resolve coworker and customer concerns effectively.
- Adaptability: Enjoy a fast-paced work environment and handle practical problems with limited standardization.
- Communication: Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to follow technical manuals and provide clear instructions.
- Math Skills: Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- MS Office Proficiency: Experience with MS Office.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends and occasionally more than 45 hours a week.
- Customer Service: A positive attitude with a desire to help and mentor others, ensuring customers' needs are met and creating a friendly atmosphere.
Work Environment:
- Cold Environment: Must be comfortable working colder environment, product gets stocked within coolers and freezer
- Handling Raw Meat: On occasion, handle raw meat.
- Location: Spend 80% of your time at our Middleton location and 20% at our Sun Prairie location at Local Source.
