V&A Consulting Engineers is Hiring a Geographic Information Systems Analyst Near Tampa, FL

The GIS Analyst at V&A Consulting Engineers, you will play a pivotal role in integrating geographic information systems with engineering projects to enhance decision-making processes and project outcomes. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to analyze spatial data, develop mapping solutions, and provide geospatial insights.

Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Management:

  • Collect, compile, and analyze geospatial data from various sources, including satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and field surveys.
  • Organize and manage GIS databases to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Conduct quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures on spatial data sets.

Mapping and Visualization:

  • Create high-quality maps, visualizations, and spatial models to support engineering projects and presentations.
  • Utilize GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and other relevant tools to produce cartographic products and spatial analyses.
  • Customize maps and spatial dashboards to meet project-specific requirements.

Spatial Analysis:

  • Perform spatial analysis techniques, such as proximity analysis, network analysis, and spatial interpolation, to derive meaningful insights.
  • Conduct suitability analysis and site selection studies for engineering projects.
  • Assist in environmental impact assessments and land use planning activities.

GIS Integration with Engineering Projects:

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate GIS workflows into project planning, design, and implementation phases.
  • Provide geospatial support for infrastructure development, site selection, and asset management projects.
  • Assist in the creation of engineering drawings, plans, and reports incorporating GIS data.

Documentation and Communication:

  • Document GIS workflows, methodologies, and analysis results for internal reference and project documentation.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide GIS training and support to colleagues as needed.

Qualifications | Competencies & Success Factors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3 years) working as a GIS Analyst in an engineering, environmental consulting, or related industry.
  • Familiarity with utilizing Python and JavaScript languages and APIs for developing scripts and/or custom applications.
  • Expertise in data analysis, including statistics or geostatistics.
  • Proficiency in GIS software, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and mobile data collection (Field Maps, Survey123, Quick Capture) and Microsoft Office, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Image Sever, Reality, Spatiotemporal big data store, MS SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL
  • Strong understanding of spatial analysis techniques and geospatial data formats.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
