Basic Function:
Responsible for mixing paints, preparing surfaces on equipment, and applying paint to the equipment. May perform touch-ups and coordinates painting projects related to the manufacturing of company equipment.
Principle Duties:
The following are principal duties of the Painter:
· Prepares equipment surfaces for painting including pipes, tubing, valves, pumps, motors, electrical boxes, system frames and related machinery
· Tapes and uses sand blasters, electric sanders, grinders, pressure washers and other equipment as needed
· Prepares surfaces for repair including the use of fillers such as Bondo
· Uses brushes, rollers, or spray gun to apply primer, paint, or other protective finishes
· Works with various materials including epoxies, alcohols, and solvents
· Utilizes, maintains, and cleans a variety of painting materials, tools, and equipment including aerial lifts, compressors, sprayers, sanders, and cleaning equipment; constructs and moves scaffolding, ladders, and platforms
· Estimates time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assignments; requisitions materials as required
General Requirements:
· Five years experience in industrial painting applications
· Ability to drive a forklift (will train)
· Ability to climb ladders
· Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment
· Ability to stand for long periods of time
· Ability to follow directions
· Available for overtime including Saturdays as required
· Responsible for cleanliness, good organization, and security of blaster, paint booth area, boiler room, and other assigned areas of responsibility
· Willingness to perform other tasks outside of normal duties as required by supervisors
· Basic computer skills and familiarity with/or willing to learn Microsoft office products
· Follow all safety protocol and warnings
· Must pass respirator test and be fitted for respirator mask
· Maintains a valid driver’s license to drive company vehicles for pick-up and delivery of materials in the local area
Pay Rate and Benefits:
· Salary depends on experience
