M- F; 7:00 am- 3:00 pm, 37.5 hours/ week

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaches academic and social emotional learning skills to students with emotional impairments or emotional and behavioral challenges. Assumes all responsibility for curricular planning, delivery and case management of special education students assigned on teacher’s case load.
Minimum Skills and Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university
Certificates, License, Registration: Michigan Teaching Certificate, endorsement/approval in Emotional Impairment
Preferred Skills and Education:
•Trauma Informed
•Experience working with special education or at-risk youth whose primary disability area is behavioral or emotional in nature,
•Familiarity with BCBA approach to behavior planning
•Previous experience as a special education teacher
• Experience with restorative approach of disciplinary consequences
• Strong classroom community building skills
•Knowledge and proven effectiveness using research-based instructional practices
Physical Demands:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Office environment with little exposure to excessive noise. Often involved in stressful situations.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
