Valley Educational Associates started with a small, eight-person program and now serves over 85 individuals in three beautiful program facilities throughout Western Massachusetts.

Hours of Work: Generally, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm; some work outside normal hours in order to attend meetings or events

Position Summary: The Clinician is responsible for providing in-person clinical services to our individuals who have developmental disabilities. Services are provided in all three of our sites: West Hatfield, Springfield and Chicopee. The Clinician will be responsible for managing an assigned caseload of individuals, from all three sites and providing coverage for other VEA clinicians, as needed. The Clinician will assess, create and/or update the individuals' behavior plans, providing oversight of their implementation within the programs. This includes timely completion of all necessary documentation and attending and participating in all ISP, Clinical, team and Psychiatric meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct clinical services to the VEA individuals that are served in our three sites.
• Service formats include large and small groups and individual meetings.
• Treatment modalities include coping skills; relaxation skill building; emotion regulation and cognitive behavioral management strategies.
• The clinical assessment of all assigned VEA individuals, creating behavior plans and/or guidelines, as needed, in compliance with DDS regulations.
• Training, instruction, consultation and oversight of the staff’s implementation of formal behavior plans, guidelines and clinical strategies for the individuals served.
• Monitoring the success of the clinical strategies, making changes as necessary.
• Updating all assigned behavior plans, assessments, and guidelines, annually.
• Coverage for clinical colleagues as needed.
• Active attendance and participation in ISP meetings, whether in person or via Webex, for assigned individuals and/or as coverage for a colleague.
• Active attendance and participation in clinical team and psychiatric meetings as necessary for assigned individuals or as coverage for a colleague.
• The input and extraction of data to/from the VEA’s database and the DDS Statewide Website.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the DDS Regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field required.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with a developmentally disabled, cognitively delayed or similar population in a vocational, rehabilitation or day treatment setting preferred.
• Massachusetts independent clinical license or license eligible.
• Knowledge of DDS regulations.
• Experience leading social/emotional skill-building groups.
• Demonstrated efficiency with computers and data entry.
