Position:
Under direction of the administrator and/or Director of Nursing schedules, assigns, and supervises all dietary employees and is responsible for all operations of the kitchen. Supervises and assists in food preparation and service to insure maintenance of high-quality standards. Does other related work as required.
Pay:
Pay rate will be based on experience and years in the field
Qualifications:
1. Must have a Food Service Supervisor or Certified Dietary Manager license
2. Five Cooking experience and three years experience with administrative responsibilities desirable. Experience in all areas of kitchen work, quantity cooking, and therapeutic diets desirable.
3. Ability to give and follow directions and instructions, keep accurate records, and work cooperatively with coworkers and staff.
4. Must have thorough knowledge of food preparation and be able to follow standardized recipes and use portion control.
5. Must have thorough knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and sanitation of institutional equipment.
6. Must have reliable transportation available for use while at work.
7. Must have any license or certificate mandated by local, state, or federal government
Examples of Duties:
Hires, trains, schedules, and supervises all dietary employees and conducts pertinent in-services monthly and as necessary.
Supervises the housekeeping and sanitation of the kitchen and food storage areas and schedules routine cleaning tasks.
Assumes responsibility for serving attractive, nourishing, properly cooked meals. Posts menu on the bulletin board.
Checks, orders, and inventories all foods and supplies necessary for all menus including therapeutic diets.
Maintains required personnel and departmental records.
Attends mandated committee meetings and inservices.
Communicates dietary concerns to the administrator, Nursing Supervisors, and/or dietitian.
Consults with the consultant dietitian about the preparation of foods and therapeutic diets.
Conducts periodic interviews with patients regarding food service and like and dislikes.
Physical Demands:
Work entailing lifting up to 50 lb, pushing or pulling meal carts, dishes and racks, canned goods and cleaning equipment. Ability to stand for 6-8 hours each day in a warm environment required.
