The Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse promotes and restores patients’ health by completing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for ambulatory patients receiving intermittent infusion of medications such as antibiotics, cardiac medications, immunotherapy, and blood products based upon age specific and cultural needs.
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, patient vital signs and condition as patient received IV therapy. Communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Obtains access, draws labs, and maintains PICC and ports.

Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
BSN preferred

Certifications:
x Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association X REQUIRED
Competency/Training:
X NIH stroke scale assigned and completed within 90 days of hire
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Licenses
Valid registered nurse license in State of Arizona
or
Valid multistate license from a recognized compact state acceptable to Arizona
