ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Valora is building a Protein Science team and is seeking highly motivated and experienced Protein Scientists/Engineers to play a key role in developing next-generation antibody therapeutics. This role offers the opportunity to:
o Design and engineer novel chimeric antibodies using Valora's proprietary platform.
o Develop and optimize methods for protein production and purification.
o Perform analytical and biophysical characterization of antibodies.
o Evaluate the pharmacological properties of engineered antibodies in collaboration with other R&D teams.
o Pay key roles in novel antibody discovery campaigns including antigen generation, and antibody discovery and selection.
o Contribute to IND-enabling studies and IND filings.
o Participate in development of intellectual property applications.
o Mentor junior team members and share your expertise.
o Partner with external collaborators to accelerate drug discovery and technology development.
ABOUT YOU:
· You are a subject matter expert: you have extensive expertise within the discipline of antibody discovery and engineering. Maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and remain current with changes in the field and in the industry. You have strong knowledge of oncology and immunology.
§ Expression: DNA manipulation and molecular cloning. Transient mammalian expression and protein purification. Knowledge of protein structure-function relationships and tools for protein modification and expression.
§ Purification: Experience in purifying recombinant proteins to high homogeneity for immunization purposes. Techniques like chromatography and affinity purification are essential (e.g. affinity, IEX, HIC, SEC).
§ Characterization: Experience in protein characterization and QC (analytical SEC, CE-SDS, SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting, endotoxin assays) including biophysical techniques (SPR, Octet, ITC, CD, SEC-MALS).
§ Problem-solving and critical thinking: Ability to troubleshoot challenges encountered during antigen design, immunization, and antibody discovery processes.
§ Excellent communication and collaboration: Skills to effectively communicate research findings and collaborate with colleagues from diverse scientific backgrounds.
§ Knowledge of antibody engineering techniques for antibody optimization, generation of bispecific antibodies or antibody drug conjugates.
§ Experience with bioinformatics tools for antibody sequence analysis and antibody design.
