Valparaiso University is Hiring a Network Administrator II Near Valparaiso, IN
The Network Administrator II provides support for all University infrastructural-level IT systems, including, but not limited to, wired and wireless networks, servers and virtualization, storage and data center technologies, cable TV, and telephony. The position entails overall planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure assets.
Major Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of networking systems through patches and configuration
- Documenting system configuration and network topology
- Troubleshooting and management of wired and wireless networks, including Switches, routers, DNS/DHCP, enrollment system, surveillance cameras, and firewalls
- Installation and configuration of new systems & equipment
- Repurposing of equipment to address network shortfalls in areas on campus.
- Researching new and innovative ideas for managing the campus network.
- Security reviews and configuration changes at the border firewall
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in the IT field or 5 years of experience in network administration
- Practical, hands-on working knowledge of network switches, routers, Aruba wireless, subnetting, storage systems, and virtualization
- Good communication and documentation skills
