The Opportunity

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Senior Director, Franchising. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and executing the key franchise strategies and priorities to propel the Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC) system forward. Working in connection with the Senior Director, Franchise Operations, this role assumes responsibility for the day-to-day management of the franchise system. It will be integral in enhancing the solutions and value proposition we deliver for our franchise partners. This position will catalyze transformative change, which is crucial in reshaping the dynamics of our interactions with franchisees. In addition, this role will be tasked with monitoring and tracking new unit development progress and identifying opportunities to further accelerate growth from existing and new franchise partners. A key aspect of this role involves collaborative engagement with internal Valvoline departments, external franchise leaders, and other stakeholders to pinpoint the requisite support, platforms, and incentives necessary to achieve ambitious topline and profit growth targets.

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Responsible for building and maintaining strong franchise relationships through:
    • Serving as the key liaison between franchise systems and internal cross-functional teams for all non-operational and non-marketing franchise-related matters, fostering transparent and efficient communication and value-added solutions.
    • Leading the communication and engagement strategies for the Franchise Advisory Council (FAC), ensuring a proactive and collaborative approach to address pertinent matters.
    • Fostering a culture of collaboration and trust by maintaining open and regular communication channels and establishing a constructive feedback loop with franchisees that encourages continuous improvement.
    • Becoming the primary franchise contact for internal resource groups and projects.
  • Define and execute the strategic initiatives needed to deliver on top line and profit targets for both Valvoline and its’ VIOC franchise partners. Responsibilities include:
    • Providing valuable insights and recommendations to shape future strategies and tactics, maintaining a sharp focus on identifying and addressing franchisees’ needs. Proactively contribute to developing growth initiatives, ensuring alignment with Valvoline and franchise leadership.
    • Prioritizing franchise requests strategically and collaborating with internal resource groups to expedite resolutions, showcasing agility in addressing critical issues.
    • Being proficient in understanding all Valvoline franchise agreements and recommending necessary changes needed to position the VIOC system favorably for the future.
    • Ensuring franchisees are in compliance with license, supply, and brand standards agreements. Spearheading the identification and presentation of a robust business case for additional resources and investments required to meet our ambitious growth targets.
  • Lead the newly established Franchise Enablement department, guiding its initiatives to elevate franchise support. Key responsibilities include:
    • Partnering with franchise operations to ensure we evolve the operational support needed to continue delivering on SSS growth targets.
    • Collaborating with Digital Product and Technology groups to ensure we are providing the appropriate visibility to initiative prioritization and near-term deliverables that will impact the VIOC system.
    • Coordinating with Central Operations leadership and project management to ensure the successful rollout of initiatives.
    • Spearheading the identification and presentation of business cases for additional resources and investments required to meet our ambitious franchise growth targets.
  • Partner closely with internal teams and developing franchisees to ensure the steadfast progress of development agreements and optimal new unit yield. Collaborate regularly with franchisees to gain visibility into their pipeline and ensure they are leveraging development support. Identify potential gaps in support or resources that are preventing franchise partners from delivering the required units.
  • Understand all Valvoline franchise agreements and how they compare to industry standards. Establish plans to update the terms/agreements and gain buy-in from the internal Valvoline leadership team on an annual basis. Establish a non-operational compliance process to ensure franchisees meet the required franchise agreement terms.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred)
  • Minimum of seven years of business management experience
  • A successful and hands-on track record of leading business units and achieving growth and profitability targets
  • Great organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across business units to achieve initiatives
  • Must be able to interface with executive team members to influence the strategic direction needed within the franchise community
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Office and Salesforce.com
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
