The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe manufacture of company products which may represent a broad diversity of manufacturing processes. Responsible for satisfying all safety, quality, and productivity requirements in a cost-effective manner by supervising multiple functions and shifts of the production team. The supervisor is responsible for following and enforcing all safety, quality, and process requirements. The supervisor will be directly involved with the hiring, training, discipline, and performance review for production employees.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:• Overall responsibility for departmental operations to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost goals for the organization and its customers.• Put together daily and weekly production plans, calculate productivity and cost metrics based on production plan.• Daily reporting of key metrics and adherence to daily targets.• Provide leadership and technical direction to allow team to improve according to key departmental metrics.• Create a positive working environment which is committed to excellence, by demonstrating personal commitment to these ideals.• Provide leadership in establishing standard processes and tools.• Manage personnel performance, including employee reviews, disciplinary action, time and attendance, overtime assignments, employee training.• Ensure the use of lean manufacturing tools in the development of new processes.• Lead continuous improvement endeavors throughout the department.• Regularly communicate departmental updates to Managers.• Departmental health and safety compliance, accident prevention, injury prevention, equipment safety, as well as compliance with all company goals and objectives• Other duties as assignedRequired Skills/Experience:• 5 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.• Manufacturing experience required; aerospace experience preferred• Prior experience leading a team• Proven knowledge of manufacturing processes• Proficient experience with Lean Manufacturing work area practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and able to instruct others in these practices• Strong leadership skills at all levels, good work ethic. Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others• Basic English language skills and ability to read, follow, and interpret work instructions• Attention to detail and maintain clean/orderly work area• Willingness to learn and, as required, help and/or train others• MSOffice and ERP system knowledgeWork EnvironmentExposure to a manufacturing environment, with constant noise. Exposure to temperature fluctuations. Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas. At Van's Aircraft, Inc. we design and manufacture kit aircraft. The company was founded by Richard "Van" VanGrunsven in 1973. The Van's RV series aircraft are all-aluminum, low-wing monoplanes. In 2023, over 11,000 Van's aircraft were flying worldwide, one third of the USA's experimental aircraft fleet. RVs are flying in at least 45 different countries and kits have shipped to more than 60. Van’s is located in Oregon based on the Aurora State Airport (KUAO). The company currently employs around 110 people and manufactures several hundred complete aircraft kits a year.
