Vance County Schools is Hiring a New Teacher Development Specialist Near Henderson, NC

Position Overview:

The New Teacher Development Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive support to new teachers, ensuring their successful transition into the teaching profession. This role involves working collaboratively with mentors and other educational stakeholders to create state-of-the-art classrooms that foster effective teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:


New Teacher Support:

  • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship to beginning teachers.
  • Collaborate to develop and deliver orientation programs and workshops tailored to the needs of new teachers.
  • Assist new teachers in implementing best practices in classroom management, instructional strategies, and curriculum delivery.

Mentorship Program Development:

  • Collaborate with experienced teachers to develop a robust mentorship program.
  • Train and support mentors with effective coaching techniques and professional development strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of mentorship relationships, providing feedback and resources as needed.


Classroom Innovation:

  • Guide new teachers in creating engaging and inclusive classroom environments.
  • Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Promote the use of data-driven instruction to inform teaching practices and improve student outcomes.

Professional Development:

  • Design and facilitate professional development sessions focused on the needs of beginning teachers.
  • Stay current with educational research and trends, incorporating new insights into training and support programs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth among new teachers.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with school administrators, instructional coaches, and other stakeholders to align support efforts.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with new teachers, mentors, and colleagues to ensure cohesive support.
  • Participate in district-wide initiatives aimed at improving teacher retention and effectiveness

Coaching and Mentoring:

  • Ability to provide effective guidance and support to new teachers.

Classroom Management:

  • Knowledge of classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques.

Qualifications
:

  • Minimum of 5 years, preferred
  • Master’s Degree, preferred
  • Evidence of effective instruction and student growth/performance
