Please note: This is a part-time, term role. 

The position of Instructional Support Coach is responsible for serving as an instructional support coach for middle school social studies teachers for a federally funded research project in the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University. This position includes collaborating with middle school social studies teachers to implement a literacy intervention, provide possible support in lesson planning, integrating the intervention into their classroom, and planning for differentiation of instruction. 

NOTE: A Term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year. Although a position may exist for a specified or indefinite period, staff who accept term positions are not guaranteed employment for the entire period; they are employed for indefinite periods within the limit of the appointment. There are no guarantees of continued employment, either within the term or when the term ends.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain ongoing communication with teachers 
• Plan for instruction and cohesive lesson planning 
• Provide support to teachers to differentiate instruction 
• Manage data collection procedures 

Supervisory Relationships:

This position does not have supervisory responsibility. 

Education and Certifications

• This position requires a Bachelor's degree 
• Prior experience teaching children 
• Reliable access to transportation to Middle Tennessee Schools 
• Daily availability during regular school hours 

Preferred Requirements: 

• Prior experience teaching/working in the middle school setting 
• Prior experience providing instructional support to teachers
