Job Description
The candidate for Term Research Associate will be primarily responsible for conducting in-depth research on topics related to polarization as designated by the Senior Advisor to the Chancellor. The role involves analyzing significant and relevant issues associated with the Nashville Poll and the Vanderbilt Unity Poll, delivering insightful and original data analysis for the executive leadership to review. The individual will be expected to produce well-informed position papers and various written documents that address the facets and consequences of polarization. Additionally, the role calls for providing strategic advice to the leadership team based on the comprehensive research carried out.

NOTE: A Term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts extensive research on issues impacting polarization as assigned by the Senior Advisor to the Chancellor.
  • Analyze important and current issues around the Nashville Poll and the Vanderbilt Unity Poll and provide thoughtful and unique data analysis to leadership.
  • Produces position papers, as well as other written materials, on issues impacting polarization.
  • Advises leadership on issues related to the research conducted.
  • Collaborates with the Division of Communications to ensure that content and messaging reflect research findings.
  • Participates in the development of executive communication.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in a related field is required. A Ph.D. is preferred.
  • At least three years of comparable experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and evidence of outstanding research skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrated evidence of excellent writing skills and the ability to prepare research reports are necessary.
  • The ability to understand the current issues and challenges of polarization is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and think strategically is necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent communication and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents are necessary.
  • Experience of working with qualitative and quantitative data and the ability to present data effectively are necessary.
