Communications SpecialistWe are seeking a highly skilled Communications Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional news writing skills, advanced knowledge of grammar, spelling, and style, and the ability to work independently to advance initiatives and storytelling efforts.
This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon working around 20 hours a week.Communications Specialist Responsibilities
- Write compelling news articles, press releases, and other communication materials.
- Ensure all written content adheres to brand guidelines and maintains high editorial standards.
- Independently research and develop engaging story angles and narratives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information and insights.
- Translate complex information into clear and accessible content.
- Utilize creativity to enhance storytelling through various mediums.
- Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) to extract key messages and develop content.
- Monitor industry trends and incorporate relevant topics into communications strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a communications role, demonstrating proficiency in news writing and content development.
- Exceptional command of grammar, spelling, and style.
- Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience representing information visually through graphs, charts, infographics, etc.
- Proven ability to interview SMEs and develop compelling story angles.
- Demonstrated creativity in content development and communication strategies.
