VanderHouwen is Hiring a Non-Profit Finance Manager Near Portland, OR

Our local non-profit client seeks a dedicated Non-Profit Finance Manager to join their team. This role serves as part of the Finance Committee and reports directly to the General Director. The ideal candidate has a passion for the arts and looks forward to jumping in and making this role their own while building a solid accounting team.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3-4 days a week onsite in Portland, Oregon.

Non-Profit Finance Manager Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and finance functions ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Perform project-based budgeting and revenue recognition functions ensuring alignment with contract/licensing agreements.
  • Review general ledger to ensure proper coding.
  • Develop policies and internal controls to ensure alignment with the organization’s departmental budgets, strategies, and goals.
  • Assess systems and processes for continuous improvements and efficiencies.
  • Assist with complex payroll processing (1099, union, seasonal employees through multiple vendors).
  • Ad-hoc financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, planning, and risk management.

Non-Profit Finance Manager Qualifications

  • Must have prior experience in non-profit industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience including prior supervisory/leadership responsibility.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Deadline-driven with the ability to effectively manage competing tasks and priorities.
