Vantage Point Consulting Llc is Hiring a Litigation Paralegal Near New York, NY
Position Overview:
The Paralegal applies knowledge of the litigation lifecycle and its associated procedures to provide fundamental assistance to lawyers. The role requires efficiency and cost-effectiveness to meet billable hours and support legal processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform work efficiently to allow the Firm to collect fees for such work.
- Meet billable hours target of 1,725 (unless otherwise specified).
- Under attorney supervision, coordinate, organize, prepare, and interpret complex legal documents related to litigation matters.
- Build and maintain relevant databases and files; file documents and provide copies to relevant parties.
- Organize, review, and maintain documents and case files; compile documents for court filings; prepare and commence ECF filings.
- Conduct electronic document reviews and coordinate document productions with attorneys; conduct searches of production databases for relevant documents; handle other eDiscovery tasks.
- Assist attorneys with preparing materials for depositions.
- Perform factual research using internal and external databases and libraries.
- Coordinate trial preparation; attend trials and provide support to attorneys at court and agency hearings; manage logistics, including local/remote set-up and travel arrangements.
- Partner and coordinate with internal resources and outside vendor services.
- Coordinate with other areas/departments to streamline processes and satisfy department needs.
- Work overtime and travel as required.
- Handle additional related projects as assigned.
Proficiencies:
- Proficiency in MS Outlook and web-based conference call/web-sharing applications.
- Proficiency in MS Word and document editing/comparison applications.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and spreadsheet/database applications.
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and presentation applications.
- Experience with transcript management applications (LiveNote).
- Proficiency with cite-checking/bluebooking.
- Proficiency in online research and internet search resources (LexisNexis/Westlaw), as well as utilizing PACER, CM/ECF, and other electronic court and agency databases.
- Knowledge of relevant jurisdictional/court/agency processes and procedures.
- Experience with timekeeping and expense reporting applications.
- Knowledge of legal billing processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
- ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate (preferred).
- At least 2 years of Paralegal experience (required).
- At least 2 years’ litigation experience (required).
- Trial/Arbitration/Mediation experience (required).
