Job Title: General Manager – Manufacturing Plant

They are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager (GM) to join their team in Hamilton, Ohio. This role is pivotal in ensuring our plant operates smoothly, efficiently, and profitably, producing high-quality products for our customers.

Position Overview:

The General Manager (GM) will work closely with the Plant Manager (PM) to oversee all aspects of plant operations, ensuring a safe, productive, and efficient environment. Reporting directly to the President, the GM will also collaborate with Canada’s General Manager to align strategies and drive growth across our operations.

Main Responsibilities:

Daily Operations:

• Chair daily start-up meetings, addressing key issues such as production planning, employee matters, customer complaints, machinery maintenance, and other constraints affecting production and scrap.
• Assist in quoting special (custom) jobs and route potential jobs to enhance efficiency and profitability.
• Work with the PM to determine the necessity of overtime to meet job deadlines.

Ongoing Management:

• Oversee Customer Service (Order Desk) and Engineering teams, developing and reviewing KPIs.
• Manage and review PM’s performance, collaboratively setting and assessing KPIs.
• Maintain regular communication with Manufacturing Sales Representatives regarding business opportunities, quotes, and orders, and review their performance metrics including quote win/loss rates and YoY sales performance.
• Conduct periodic meetings with Sales Representatives and participate in customer site visits.

Continuous Improvement & Efficiency:

• Research, analyze, and implement continuous improvement strategies, focusing on engineering and operational processes.
• Initiate process improvements, cost-saving measures, and efficiency initiatives.
• Adopt and implement lean manufacturing practices to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Maintain and enhance key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational excellence.

Technical and Compliance Support:

• Provide technical support and advice to customers as needed.
• Oversee ISO 9001:2015 certification, including managing annual internal and external audits.
• Conduct weekly Gemba walks with the PM to review operational practices and standards.
• Assist in the annual budgeting process and evaluate the M&E CAPEX budget.

Policy and Safety:

• Promote and support policies, particularly those related to discipline, health, and safety, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a senior management role within a manufacturing setting.
• Strong understanding of production planning, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements.
• Solid knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and experience managing certification audits.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, customers, and stakeholders.
