Varney Inc is Hiring a Human Resources Specialist Near Roanoke, VA

Overview:

As a Human Resources Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our organization's human capital needs. Your responsibilities will span across various HR functions, including on-boarding, reward and retention programs, training, employee development, apprenticeship programs, and the development of job descriptions. You will work closely with employees, managers, and the HR team to ensure a positive and productive work environment that fosters growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-boarding:
  • Coordinate and facilitate the on-boarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Develop and maintain on-boarding materials, including welcome kits, orientation schedules, and training resources.
  • Conduct orientation sessions to familiarize new hires with company policies, culture, and job responsibilities.
  • Reward and Retention Programs:
  • Design, implement, and administer employee reward and recognition programs to promote a culture of appreciation and engagement.
  • Analyze employee satisfaction and retention data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance employee morale and retention.
  • Collaborate with management to develop competitive compensation and benefits packages that attract and retain top talent.
  • Training and Employee Development:
  • Assess training needs across the organization and develop training programs to address skill gaps and enhance employee performance.
  • Coordinate and deliver training sessions on topics such as leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and compliance.
  • Track employee training progress and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives.
  • Apprenticeship Program:
  • Develop and manage apprenticeship programs to provide hands-on training and development opportunities for entry-level employees.
  • Establish partnerships with educational institutions and industry organizations to recruit and support apprentices.
  • Monitor the progress of apprentices and provide mentorship and guidance throughout the program.
  • Development of Job Descriptions:
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to define job roles and responsibilities, and create comprehensive job descriptions.
  • Ensure job descriptions are up-to-date, accurately reflect the requirements of each position, and comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct job analysis to gather information on job content, requirements, and organizational structure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in human resources roles, with a focus on on-boarding, employee relations, and talent development.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
