Statement of duties:

Under the general supervision of a Physician, provides general office duties and patient care following established standards and practices.

Duties include:

• Obtaining and documenting vital signs, taking patient photographs for patient record, and measuring patient’s legs during initial visit and follow ups for compression stocking sizing.
• Performing specialized wound care to patients as directed;
• Preparing equipment and ensuring all patient care areas are clean and stocked with required supplies and materials;
• Greeting patients and preparing them for clinic visits as appropriate;
• Aiding physicians during treatment and examination of patients;
• Administering medications and treatments in accordance with state and federal guidelines;
• Maintaining and reviewing patient records, charts and other pertinent information;
• Maintaining patient confidentiality;
• Responding to telephone enquires as assigned;
• Coordinating appointments for specialists’ referrals and conveying pertinent information to the patient;
• Assisting the front office staff with answering phone calls and general office duties;

Professional requirements:

• Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical and clinical staff and the public
• The ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• The ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
• The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Educational / Experience requirements:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire and maintained current throughout employment.
• Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant.
• 2 Year experience in a clinical setting preferred

Physical requirements:

• The Medical Assistant may be required to lift, carry, turn, or assist with high-risk patients and be willing and able to work a full-time work schedule with extended hours as needed. The Medical Assistant must be able to sit, stand, bend and move intermittently during working hours.

Compensation commensurate with experience.
