Position Summary

The Yard Manager reports directly to the General Manager of Yard Operations. Senior Yard Managers oversee multiple yard operation sites, ranging from small to medium-sized or large single-site facilities. Their responsibilities include service development and coordinating with senior management and Yard Leads to guarantee service commitment and fulfillment.

Position Responsibilities

Senior Yard Managers will oversee the financial performance of the yards they manage. Their primary focus will be on controlling variable costs, managing labor efficiently, and ensuring high productivity levels.

Additionally, Senior Yard Managers will be accountable for Work Quality Standards, Loss and Damage Prevention, Claims, Document Control, Safety, and managing personnel issues.

They will propose damage prevention strategies or process improvements as needed. They are expected to participate in customer meetings and phone conferences, comprehend customer needs, and strive to meet or exceed those expectations. Senior Yard Managers will also develop alternative solutions and recommend enhancements to the area's work processes.

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree or 6 years management experience.

• Demonstrated expert level usage of MS office products including Excel, Access, and Power Point.
• Understanding and experience with Total Quality management\

• Teamwork, decision-making, problem solving, communications, customer focus, confidentiality, planning, organizing, process management, tolerance of ambiguity, and time management.
• Analytical skills
• The ability to determine trends and anomalies
• Ability to forecast operational and cost of revenue expenditures one year out for all business line

• Successful Team Leader or equivalent experience in a prior position.
• Experience with meeting valid external customer requirements, supervisory/managerial capabilities, process management, and PC skills.
