JOB TITLE: School Psychologist
STATUS: Full Time (Exempt)
REPORTS TO: Director of Support Services
Provide state and federally mandated psycho-educational services to our TK-12th grade schools, including: assessment, counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, behavior plan development, and case management for comprehensive assessments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct state and federally mandated psycho-educational assessment of students referred for special education consideration including initial, re-evaluation, and triennial evaluations.
Conduct mandatory classroom observation of students being considered for special education services due to suspected learning disabilities.
Conduct Designated Instruction and Services (DIS) counseling, individually and/or group, to students requiring this service according to their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Conduct Educationally Related Intensive Counseling Services (ERICS) to students, through individual support, according to their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Prepare comprehensive, written psycho-educational case study reports for initial, re-evaluation, and triennial IEPs.
Participate in initial, re-evaluation, and triennial review IEP team meetings for students.
Recommend to the IEP team goals and objectives for students with special needs in the areas of social-emotional and behavior, and assists in the development of goals and objectives in other areas, as needed.
Participate in other IEP team meetings as requested or deemed appropriate such as 30-day transfer review meetings and meetings in which a change of placement to a more restrictive setting is under consideration for a student with special needs, etc.
Collaborate in school-wide initiatives that support academics and well-being of students: Response to Instruction (RTI), Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and behavioral (PBIS)
Participate in the Student Study and Progress Team (SSPT) process, and any pre-referral activities as part of the Child Find mandate
Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).
Collaborate with IEP team members with the development and evaluation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), as needed.
Participate in Section 504 Plan meetings, as needed.
Provide crisis intervention, suicide risk, and threat assessments to the general population of students.
Serve as mandated reporter with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), both by telephone and in writing, on behalf of students when any type of abuse is suspected (physical, emotional, sexual or neglect).
Participate in a school governance committee.
Participate in on-going professional development.
Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential with an authorization in School Psychology.
Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, or School Psychology.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Counseling techniques and strategies as well as parenting skills.
Evaluation and interview instruments in the areas of cognitive, behavioral, social emotional, sensory-motor, adaptive behavior, academic and vocational abilities.
Legal mandates regarding assessment and provision of services.
Classroom behavioral and instructional intervention management techniques.
Proficient with computer software (Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Google suite)
Effectively provide individual and group counseling.
Determine eligibility for special education services.
Aid in developing and monitoring behavioral management programs.
Provide in service/workshop on pertinent topics of special interest.
Understand cultures and family structures; Communicate empathically and effectively with students, staff, parents, administrators and community.
Problem solve and provide assistance in areas requiring conflict resolution.
Communicate clearly and succinctly.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Demonstrated ability to work well with others and build relationships across teams and schools.
Promote problem-solving and consensus-building activities among others.
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

$105,616.65 - $141,321.74
215 days per year

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Upon receiving an offer of employment:
Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan) with the Department of Justice (DOJ)
Must provide a Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) clearance within 60 days of employment
Will be assigned mandated state training to be completed prior to the first day of employment
