Position SummaryThe Lead Mold Maker constructs mild to very complex class 103 to class 101 small part with
micro details injection molds without supervision, cleans and repairs molds, fixtures, and jigs.
They also troubleshoot & define problems with tooling and production.

Position SummaryThe Lead Mold Maker constructs mild to very complex class 103 to class 101 small part with
micro details injection molds without supervision, cleans and repairs molds, fixtures, and jigs.
They also troubleshoot & define problems with tooling and production.
Position Duties
- Operation of machines in tool room – mill, lathe, CNC, EDM, and grinders.
- Construct class 103 to class 101 injection molds from design in a team environment.
- Work with all tooling personnel for tool builds and problem solving.
- Work with & train apprentice tool makers.
- Work with all departments on tooling needs and problem solving.
- Support, follow and uphold departmental and company policies and procedures and
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and preventative measures.
- Follow all Six “S” requirements.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship Mold Maker or associate degree (A. A.) or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Able to read injection mold part prints and a basic knowledge of geometric tolerancing.
- Understanding and safe use of all tool room equipment such as Vertical Mills, Surface
- Ability to use mold design software to construct injection mold such as pulling out
- Capable of constructing class 103 to 101 injection molds small parts micro details from
- Understand and use of all styles of injection mold gating options such as edge, sub or
- Understanding thermal transfer of various materials and knowing their importance.
- Understanding of injection mold venting for engineered resins.
- Understanding of engineered resin shrink factors.
- Capability to preform standard mold finishes D3 to A1 SPE SPI.
- Advanced trouble shooting skills for Injection mold for construction and in press issues.
- Ability to work with multiple departments to resolve tooling issues.
- Able to lifts objects up to 50 pounds by hand with or without an accommodation.
- Ability to read, analyze, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short
- Geometry & trigonometry math aptitude and the ability to solve mathematical tooling
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other
- Effective and understandable professional written and verbal communication skills.
