Overview Our client is a Houston, Texas based exploration and production company focused on the acquisition and development of conventional oil reserves, including the implementation of enhanced-recovery techniques.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage A/P and external accounting team members Prepares, reviews, and posts journal entries for multiple entities Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts and prepares required adjustments as needed Lead month-end closing activities Reviews and updates financial documents, reports, and statements Perform analysis of financial data, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and advise management on accounting and control matters to ensure commercial decision making Primary interface with external auditors and leads internal audit execution Researches and corrects account discrepancies Treasury management responsibilities including cash management, short/long term investments, A/P and A/R optimization Maintain an effective internal control framework and appropriately reporting any noted control gaps/breaks Ensures compliance with governmental accounting regulations and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field CPA or CMA certification is highly desirable 5-10 years of operational Oil and Gas Accounting experience Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis Advanced Excel skills and experience in data analysis, data management, and financial modeling Proficient in Spotfire Knowledge in WolfPak Energy Accounting a plus Experience in General Ledger Accounting, Reconciliation, and Financial Statement Preparation Strong in all major Microsoft Office products (Word, Power Point, Excel) Strong organization, planning, and time-management skills for multiple priorities Highly developed sense of urgency and proactive problem-solving skills Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, maintain detailed and accurate records, and prepare clear and concise written reports at all levels of the organization Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail Must be eligible to work for ANY employer in the United States; we are unable to sponsor H1B applicants at this time
