VC999 Packaging Systems is Hiring an Electrical Assembly Technician Near Kansas, MO

Job Title: Electrical Assembly Technician Division: USA

Reports To: Assembly Manager Location: Kansas City

Status: Non-Exempt Department: Assembly

Updated: May 2020

Summary: This position requires the ability to read electrical schematics and be able to assemble complete machine electrical panels and troubleshoot electrical circuits on a food packaging machine using common hand tools. Must understand detailed electrical schematics. Needs to have a basic understanding of PLC terminology and controls. Must be able to troubleshoot electrical assemblies and all electrical wiring on the machine. Needs to gain an understanding of machine operation and controls and be able to use the operator interface to manually control machine functions and check the functionality of all related electrical assemblies. Must have basic hand tools including a multimeter and toolbox. Other duties will include the assembly of mechanical components and sub-assemblies following detailed assembly drawings, bill of materials, and other written and verbal specifications.

Time Utilization: Normal business hours are 7:00 am to 3:45 pm (45 min lunch break). Overtime may be required as the production schedule dictates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepares production sheets and other reports, as required
  • Ability to read and understand job aids and work instructions
  • Keeps all work areas clean and orderly
  • Utilizes pneumatic and hand tools to assist with building product
  • Responsible for quality of the product produced in his/her work area
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings to support production
  • Material handling duties, as required kitting product and transporting materials
  • Performs final assembly and testing of a product against required specifications
  • Keeps their supervisor apprised of issues related to daily performance
  • Maintains discipline and a safe working environment
  • Must be able to work overtime as required (including occasional Saturdays)
  • Must be willing to be cross-trained in all areas of production
  • Must be punctual, responsible, and reliable
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Must supply your own hand tools and toolbox

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Electrical skills required. Mechanical and electrical aptitude needed. Must possess the ability to read and understand electrical schematics.

  • Must possess the ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Must maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others are required.
  • Basic understanding/ability to use computers to access production lists and attendance system are necessary.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.

Math Ability:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and practical situations.

Computer Skills:
Basic understanding/ability to use computers to access production lists and attendance system are necessary.

The associate must regularly lift and /or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to climb or balance. The associate is occasionally required to sit.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
