Job Summary

Successful realization of large and complex automotive and other investment projects within the parameters of the plan of approach with a focus on Quality, on-time Delivery, and staying within budgeted Cost.

Education and Experience

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of operational experience in an automotive tooling related field

Knowledge

  • Project Management Systems and their use in a business to business environment;
  • General technical insight into mechanical and control systems;
  • The development and qualification process for new production lines;
  • Launch Management techniques (including for projects) which are used by our customers;
  • How organizations work, including customer organizations;
  • Commercial and financial analytical insight.
  • Coaching and supervision;
  • Internal and external requirements and standards which are applicable to the organization, such as health and safety, quality, safety and environmental standards, as well as Corporate Social Responsibility;
  • Clear communication in English (Dutch and/or German a plus)
  • Office software including command of Microsoft Project.
  • Production control systems and/or ERP system (SAP).
  • Job cost financial reporting

Responsibility

  • Directing a multidisciplinary, globally operating team/project team;
  • Managing the expectations of the customer, management team, project executors and suppliers in the context of the project;
  • Releasing order forms to purchasing;
  • Following up on the project plan;
  • Monitoring the quality requirements and quality policy;
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction;
  • Ensuring adequate solutions to bottlenecks in the realization of projects;
  • Helping communicate company policy to employees;
  • Authorization to sign in accordance with procedure.
  • Drawing up the budgets for additional work received or to be received.
  • Taking decisions to resolve bottlenecks and to prevent unwanted developments.
  • Setting priorities on the basis of the schedule (in consultation with the customer).
  • Financial result of the project.

Communication

  • Customer teams regarding progress, bottlenecks, planning and contract variations (both at the operational and management
  • levels);
  • The internal project team regarding all subjects pertaining to progress on the project;
  • Suppliers with regard to scope definition, progress, bottlenecks, planning and contract variations;
  • Internal management with regard to progress and bottlenecks.

Result Areas

Supervision

  • Planning and controlling the costs and budgets within the project in relation to the agreed objectives, by drawing up financial plans, estimating expenditure, analyzing divergences and initiating corrective measures, in which context exceeding the objectives is expected.
  • Implementation of active risk and opportunities management with regard to site activities, in order to optimize results.

Planning

  • Drawing up the plan of approach in consultation with the program manager, the project team, and the line organization, in which the relevant steps in the primary process (such as design, production, purchasing, assembly, construction, commissioning and transfer) are defined.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • The definition, monitoring, realization and ensuring implementation of the plan of approach relating to the allocated project, including the set preconditions and objectives.
  • Planning, managing, guiding and coordinating the processes within the project team of which he/she is a member, making use of multidisciplinary project control tools.
  • Planning and managing the capacity, costs and budgets within the project in relation to the agreed milestones and objectives.
  • Drawing up regular reports on finances, customer satisfaction, project control tools, timing, engineering, organization and health and safety aspects of the project during DO and PSM reviews.
  • Monitoring the quality of the input to and output of the site activities on the project, including the accompanying reporting, in which respect the emphasis is on the functionality of that delivered.
  • Initiating and implementing preventive and corrective measures within the project, as well as advising the management team on cross project improvement activities.

Project-based Leadership

  • Directing a multidisciplinary team with members both from within the Steelweld organization and from the customer,
  • subcontractors and suppliers.
  • The operational implementation of and support for tasks of employees who report directly to the Project Manager

Organization

  • Coordination of the project needs with the line organization and external parties.
  • Monitoring and following up on customer satisfaction, with the objective of continuously exceeding customer expectations.
  • Releasing order forms with the accompanying budgets and planning.
  • Negotiation and acquisition of additional work orders, including contract management.
  • Performance of relation management and consultation with the customer in accordance with an agreed format in terms of status, progress, contract variations and other divergences in terms of the scope of supply and/or contract, including setting down the arrangements made.
  • Although the project manager has his or her own individual responsibility, the joint efforts of the project team to which he/she belongs must lead to the intended project results as agreed in the plan of action approach.
  • Supporting purchasing in determining strategy and negotiations with the supplier(s) (or in preparations for this). The definition, monitoring, realization and ensuring implementation of the plan of approach relating to the allocated project, including the set preconditions and objectives.
