VEIT is Hiring a Business Development Representative Near Berlin, WI

The Business Development Representative is a driven and enthusiastic individual with a talent for closing deals, dedicated to propelling Veit's growth initiatives in Wisconsin and neighboring regions. This role involves identifying and nurturing project opportunities for both new and existing clients while cultivating strong customer partnerships.

Responsibilities include building and maintaining meaningful client relationships through networking, industry events, and proactive prospecting efforts. The Business Development Representative will also play a vital role in enhancing workflow processes to support the overall effectiveness of the Business Development team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline by researching potential accounts, soliciting new ones, and building rapport, providing technical explanations as needed.
  • Support bid opportunities management software, including Bid Board Pro and Building Connected Pro, providing both administrative and user support.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and project management teams to nurture client relationships and execute construction projects.
  • Cultivate internal and external relationships to drive revenue growth within the market.
  • Monitor emerging markets and trends, providing analysis and recommendations to leadership, while tracking leads and pursuits.
  • Scout bidding websites for future opportunities across all Veit divisions, coordinating with divisional leaders as necessary.
  • Research public and private industry market data, client information, and project details.
  • Pursue Master Service Agreement (MSA) opportunities with potential clients.
  • Maintain strong relationships with current clients and establish connections with potential future clients.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with market influencers, such as engineers, contractors, and developers.
  • Foster internal relationships with estimators to facilitate departmental coordination and support.
  • Facilitate discussions with project leaders to identify potential pursuits.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in collaboration with the Director of Business Development.
  • Represent the company at events and networking functions, actively participating in industry associations and committees.
  • Keep supervisors informed of any factors that may impact assignment performance or company operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales, or related field with 5-7 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Business-to-business sales experience required.
  • Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management systems.
  • Experience in Heavy Civil/Industrial construction markets, including plan reading, RFPs, prequalifications, proposals, and contract types.
  • Strong customer service skills with a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Energetic, action-oriented approach to challenges.
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and business acumen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to interpret policies, reports, and legal documents.
  • Strong prioritization skills with the ability to take immediate action on high-priority tasks.
  • Comfortable with mathematical concepts and calculations.
  • Adaptable in versatile environments with a proactive attitude.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of the Heavy Civil construction industry as it relates to earthmoving, underground utilities, deep foundation systems, demolition, and marine construction.
  • Past estimating experience preferred.
  • Experience with solar field developers and Railroad companies.
  • General knowledge of construction and engineering vocabulary, processes, and approach.
  • Familiarity of Veit’s core scopes of work.

Other:

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Must be able to travel 50% throughout the Midwest region. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some overnight travel will be required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to work 8 hour workdays, Monday-Friday, evenings and weekends as needed.
