Velos is seeking a bright, energetic, self-motivated, detail-oriented Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join a small team supporting the National Security Space Association (NSSA), a rapidly growing industry association, assisting with day-to-day association activities.
NSSA ( ) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit support association solely dedicated to the National Security Space enterprise, to include the Department of Defense, U.S. Space Force, and the Intelligence Community. NSSA works to advance long-term cooperation among industry and government, leading the way with expert opinion, insight and analysis.
Reporting to the Chief Operations and Development Officer, the Marketing Communications Coordinator will manage all marketing communications efforts and provide general support across a variety of tasks, including event planning, workforce development, membership development, member relations, and other duties as assigned.
This position is hybrid and reports in-person to our Arlington VA office 1-2 days per week.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Marketing Communications Coordinator manages all marketing and communications efforts including general marketing of the association, events, and membership programs.

• Lead creation and distribution of weekly email newsletter and other email marketing efforts
• Expand on existing social media footprint across a variety of platforms to increase visibility of the association and its offerings. Use social media to promote events, share community news, and more
• Create and maintain a comprehensive communications plan and calendar
• Lead website maintenance
• Lead media outreach and cultivating media contact relationships
• Manage contact and distribution lists to maintain up to date information
• Maintain organizational overview presentations
• Build and maintain contact lists
• Assist with event planning

Education / Experience
Required

• Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, or similar
• Experience working (or interning) in a professional office environment working in marketing communications
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to consistently meet deadlines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while attending to the smallest of details
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel, including weekends
• Ability to work and support events outside of normal work hours, to include nights and weekends

Preferred

• Experience or interest in national security or space
• Willingness and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
