Job OverviewThe fiber optic design assistant will be responsible for assessing service areas for fiber optic
planning and design, preparing construction packages for issuance, and processing design
documents/data for project completion and closeout.
Responsibilities

• Communicate with team members via email, internal messaging systems, and remote web conferencing software where necessary.
• Maintain and update internal project trackers and spreadsheets as required.
• Assist in creating and modifying civil and cable drawings using CAD and/or GIS software.
• Utilize all available tools to maintain high volume work output.
• Escalate difficult issues as required to prevent delays in deliverables.
• Ensure that deliverables produced adhere to client standards and specifications.
• Adhere to the company's approved processes and procedures.
• Other duties as required.

Skills/ RequirementsRequired Qualifications:

• Possess logical reasoning to work through a problem and find a solution.
• Computer literacy and efficiency with a focus on Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Must have a high attention to detail and ability to review their own work for compliance with client standards.
• Must be able to interpret construction drawings.
• Flexible and professional approach to work.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
• Ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple tasks/assignments simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications

• 1 or more years of utility industry experience.
• Self-motivated, confident, energetic, and creative.
• Ability to handle competing priorities and apply prioritization of tasks for work completion.
• Ability to train, coach, and share job knowledge with team members.
• Ability to document work processes and compile process documents on how to complete job functions.
